Winegarden Estate Ltd. a locally owned Winery and Distillery from Baie Verte N.B. has opened the wine store, featuring wines from New Brunswick, at the Saint John City Market last September 2005.The NB cottage wineries are licensed to sell locally grown and produced products at farmer markets since July 2005.
The Rosswog family invested into a store at the Saint John City Market and is offering a unique and large selection of New Brunswick grown and produced Fruit and Grape Wines. These products are only available at the winery or farmer markets in Saint John, Fredericton and Moncton.
Opening a store in the city of Saint John was a big and risky step for our small family operation. Elke Muessle quoted: It meant the investment of store furniture, employing staff and an expansion into larger production and warehouse space. This was all realized, proudly to say, without any ACOA subsidies. At the same time we were able to bring the product closer to the consumer and make them aware of the existence of New Brunswick wineries and the availability of local premium wines. Although, New Brunswick is especially known for their Fruit wines made from Blueberry, Cranberry and Elderberry the store also features a selection of Wine made from local grapes.
Winegarden received a warm welcome by all the vendors and management of the market as well the people of Saint John, who have been supportive by tying a bottle of N.B. wine. It did not take long to get a regular customer base, that is growing by the day. Tourists are happy to see NB Wine as well. They enjoy the winery route through the province and are just thrilled to be able to bring “ a Taste of New Brunswick Orchard’s” home.
The staff of Winegarden invites everyone to come to the SJ City market and take part at a wine tasting event on Friday October 27,06 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the solarium.
Tickets will be sold at the door or at the Wine Store tel; 506-696-9909 for $ 5.00 for a souvenir glass that includes 5 samples. Meet you at the market to discover Wines from New Brunswick. !
